Multi-tiered Systems of Support

Counseling Intervention Support

The Rose Creek Student Services Team works alongside teachers, parents, and administration to help support students' academic, social, and emotional wellbeing. Services we provide include classroom guidance lessons, small group counseling, individual counseling, parent and teacher consultations, community resource information, and crisis interventions.

Individual and group counseling are opt-in services meaning we do not meet with students for individual or group counseling without parent permission. (This does not include immediate crisis interventions, we will contact you after any crisis response intervention).

Counseling Groups
Students will learn and practice specific skills in areas such as emotion awareness, emotion management, self awareness, interpersonal skills/communication, problem solving and self management. Which skills are focused on will depend on student need. Students will meet once a week for 20-30 minutes for 6-8 weeks.

Lunch Bunch Groups
Rather then learning specific coping skills, lunch-bunch tends to be more focused on building peer relationships and having positive experiences at school through get to know you questions and games. Lunch bunch is is ideal for students looking to make and build positive connections and have positive experiences at school. Groups meet once a week at lunch for 6-8 weeks.

Individual Counseling
One-on-one counseling tends to be more individualized and less structured then groups. Students may learn a specific coping skills, get a chance to express and communicate their feelings, or get support in working on problem solving skills for specific situations. Students will meet 6-8 times either weekly, bi weekly, or monthly depending on need and preference.

* After completing short term counseling students are invited to a monthly grade level lunch bunch once a month. This is an optional way for them to reconnect with peers and check in with the school counselor. Students are also made aware of how to access the counselor for as needed check ins when they are in distress or having a difficult day.
